Men's 80+ Nominees

Dietrich Lamprecht * Cycling * Oceanside, Calif.

With scenic views of Southern Utah as the backdrop, Lamprecht dominated the expert cycling division in his age group at the Huntsman World Senior Games in October. He took home gold with ease in four cycling events, posting margin of victory of at least a minute in each race.

Bob Matteson * Track and Field * Bennington, Vt.

In the past year, Matteson sped to four American M90 records indoors and outdoors in the 200- and 400-meter runs and world records in the 800- and 1500-meter runs indoors. At the USA Track & Field National Masters Outdoor Championships in Orono, Maine, he was named the Outstanding American T&F Athlete over the age of 60.

Ben Marshall * Racquetball * San Antonio, Texas

Marshall won gold in the National Masters Racquetball Association National Championships in Orem, Utah, in March. He also won gold at the USA Racquetball National Singles Tournament and received the "Fair Play Award." Two years ago he became the NMRA's first ever 90+ player and member.

Gordy Shields * Cycling * El Cajon, Calif.

Shields set a new national 20K time-trial record of 44:53 for age 90+, beating the previous record by 12 minutes. It is only the second time in U.S. cycling history that a record has been shattered by such a margin. He also is a member of the Cycling Hall of Fame.
