Women's 50-59 Nominees
Martha Iverson * Cycling * Durango, Colo.
No matter what the discipline, Iverson was dominant on the bike in the women's 55-59 age group at the Huntsman World Senior Games in October. She won gold medals in four races: the hill climb (16:03.97), the 20k time trial (32:03.26), the criterium (28:50.00) and the 50k road race (1:38:35).
Cindy Tilbury * Racquetball * Denver
At the National Masters Racquetball Association National Championships in March, Tilbury took first place in her age group in doubles, scoring on average 10 points more per match than the competition. She also played singles, going 7-2 and finishing in second place.
Kay Glynn * Track and Field * Hastings, Iowa
At the 2008 Masters Indoor Track and Field Championships, Glynn had the highest pole vault of any female competitor at 2.92 meters, the second most points in the pentathlon, and the third longest jump of any competitor at 4.39 meters. She won the women's 55-59 age group in each of these events in addition to the high jump.
Gloria Strickland * Softball * Tucson, Ariz.
Strickland has a .650 batting average, which has helped her team win numerous tournaments, including theis year's SSWC Southwestern Championships for the third straight time. She also was selected to the 2002 and 2006 All World Teams.
