Men's 50-59 Nominees

Pat Heraty * Softball * Batavia, Ill.

Though sourrounded by all-stars on Windy City, a men's 50+ team that win four national tournaments last year, Heraty still managed to stand out. He won the MVP of the Senior Softball USA World Championship in Phoenix late last year. He batting average exceeds .900. He is a member of the 16-inch Softball Hall of Fame.

 

Gregory Taylor * Triathlon * Mankato, Minn.

 

Taylor had some big victories in 2007 considering the competition in his age group. He won the Ford Ironman Arizona, the Life Time Fitness Triathlon and Manitou Sprint Triathlon. He also came in a close second to Joe Bonness at the Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii.

 

David Paulger * Snowboarding * Conway, N.H.

 

At the USA Snowboard Association Nationals, which were held at Copper Mountain in Colorado and wrapped up in April, Paulger competed in the men's 50-59 category, also known at the Kahuna bracket. He placed first in his age group in the triple overall and combined overall events.

 

James Payne * Basketball * San Francisco

 

This year, Payne won the 55+ dunk contest and made the All-Star team at the Buffalo Masters Tournament. Over the years, Payne has also won MVP in the 50 and 55 age groups in Buffalo. Payne has won the MVP in the 40, 45 and 50 age groups in the Masters Basketball National Championships in Florida.
