More interest in basketball camp
I love your magazine! I really appreciated your help in contacting Deb Smith who is involved in the Not Too Late Basketball Camp ("Not too late," GeezerJock, August/September 2006). I'm very interested in attending the camp -- or one like it -- or trying to start one here in the Ohio area. Thank you!

Rock on, GeezerJock My best friend (we were on the West Point track team together 1963-66) was in Washington, D.C., last week on business, and got talking to a lady colleague who does Masters swimming. When the subject of GeezerJock came up, she said she loves the magazine, and she had read my article ["Escape from Alcatraz," GeezerJock, December 2006]. My friend was proud to say I'm his buddy. He loves the magazine, too. It appears to me that GeezerJock is much more of an inspiration than your ordinary sports magazine. Rock on, GeezerJock.

Kudos for "Hip Replacement Diaries" Thanks for running the "Hip Replacement Diaries" by Bill Unsworth on your Web site (www.masters-athlete.com). I just had my first hip replacement three weeks ago; now I have the next one in another nine weeks. (I'm a 59-year-old woman). It helped me to read about his experience. Mine went just fantastic...after I put it off for four years due to extreme fear. The recovery is great. No fear of next operation. Thanks for the positives!

Watch out, Mr. Soucy I was thrilled to read your cover story on Masters boxing ["Fighting On," GeezerJock, January/February 2007]. I train at a gym in Portland, Ore., called Sweet Science Boxing, and we have boxers from age 8 to early 70s, male and female. It's a fun, friendly, fit atmosphere. Boxing is a great way to stay fit and maintain Walter Mitty dreams of glory in the ring. I would like to know more about the Ringside World Championships. Your real life stories have us intrigued and motivated. Mr. Soucy, I'm coming after you in 2007. Keep up the good work with a great magazine.

"You become fit to play the sport" I have just received my latest copy of GeezerJock and as usual read it from cover to cover. The letter from Hugh Ivory [GeezerJock, December. 2006] caught my attention regarding "More training advice needed." I concur. And I would like to recommend my chiropractor for this position. His name is Steven Horwitz, DC, CSCS, located in Silver Spring, Md. Dr. Horwitz was the 1996 U.S. Olympic Team chiropractor and is a strength and conditioning specialist. His motto is: "You don't play the sport to become fit...you become fit to play the sport." Dr. Horwitz guaranteed that I (at age 68) would become a better volleyball player if I followed his training recommendations, and I can honestly say that I have improved.

Rants. Raves. Loved it. Hated it. Tell us about it...
