SPORT RULES

1. Tournament is conducted in accordance with the Senior Softball USA rules, except modified herein.

2. Metal Cleats: Metal cleats will not be permitted. Players found wearing metal cleats in a game will be ejected from the game, and if on base, a "dead ball out" will be called.  If there are less than three outs, any players on base must return to the base occupied at the time the ejected player came to bat.

3. Players and substitutes: Senior Softball USA rules for re-entry and extra player (EP) will apply.  Extra players may play defense at any time.

4. 10 defensive players shall constitute a team in the Men's 50-plus bracket. 11 defensive players constitute a team for 50-plus Women, 60-plus Women, 60-plus Men, 70-plus Women, and 70-plus Men. A team must have a minimum of 10 (9, 50-plus) players at the beginning and ending of a game. For any team playing with 10 (9, 50-plus) players, an out will be recorded in the tenth position of the lineup for 50-plus men, and in the eleventh position for all other divisions.

5. Line Up Cards: Official line up cards must be presented to the opposing manager and scorekeeper 10 minutes prior to game time.  Tournament line up cards will be furnished to all team managers.

6. Mercy Rule: A 15 run mercy rule will be in effect after five innings
(4 innings if home team is ahead) ending the game. This rule shall not apply to championship games.

7. Strike Zone Mat: A strike zone mat will be used.  The rectangular mat will be 19 inches wide and 34 1/2 inches long.  The mat shall be made of rubber or other suitable material.  The mat will be placed over Home Plate and be aligned with the front edge of Home Plate.  DEFENSE: A defensive player making a play at Home Plate will be allowed to complete the force-out play by touching any portion of the strike mat, not just home plate.  If a defensive player kicks or moves the mat during the force play the batter-runner scoring will be declared safe.  A legal pitch not swung at that strikes any part of the strike zone mat or home plate shall be called a strike by the umpire.

8. Time Limit: The length of game will be seven innings or  one hour and fifteen minutes (1:15).  Tie games after seven innings  at the end of regulation time will continue until one team is ahead after completion of any subsequent inning using the international tie-breaking rule. Championship games will have no time limit.

9. Team clothing must be of like color and design.  Jersey's must have a number on the back.

10. The Men's divisions will play 12-inch slow pitch.  The Woman's division will play 11-inch slow pitch.
