Men 50-59: GeezerJock of the Year Nominees

The following men have been nominated for the 2006 Michelob ULTRA GeezerJock of the Year award in the Men 50-59 category:

Thomas Bain

   Bain
Bain, 54, was 2005’s top-ranked road racer in the men’s 50-54 category, according to the U.S. Cycling Federation. His first-place finishes for the year included the AMLI Crit 2005 for Masters 35-99, the 21st Annual Bobby Phillips Turkey Day Bike Race, the Old Tascosa Classic and the James Bailey Memorial.

Litwin won the 55-plus International Tennis Federation Senior World Individual Championship in 2005 in Perth, Australia. He is currently ranked ninth in his age group by the United States Tennis Association and is preparing to represent the United States in the Senior Davis Cup competition to be held in Durban, South Africa, in April.

   Gonzalez
At 53, Gonzalez beat two seeded players during an impressive run into the quarterfinals of the Motorola IRT Pro Nationals this spring. He also won both the 45-plus and 50-plus age brackets at the Ektelon USA Racquetball National Singles Championships in May. He has won his age group every year since 1997.
