Women 40-49: GeezerJock of the Year Nominees

The following women have been nominated for the 2006 Michelob ULTRA GeezerJock of the Year Award in the Women 40-49 category:

Seija Hackl
Weightlifting/Aurora, Colo.

   Hackl
Hackl, who is a citizen of Finland, won a weightlifting gold medal at the 2005 World Masters Games, which were held in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. She won the 40-44 age bracket in the 53 kilos and under division with a snatch of 47 kilos and a clean and jerk of 60 kilos for a total of 107 kilos. She trains at the Rocky Mountain Lifting Club and is a lab manager for the University of Colorado.

   Porter
A former U.S. Olympian, Porter set an age-group record in the women’s 40-44 bracket in January with a one-hour postal swim of 5,550 meters, breaking the old record of 5,325 meters set by Karlyn Pipes-Neilsen in 2003. In 2005, Porter, a grade school teacher, was an All American in the One-Hour Postal Swim, the 10-kilometer postal, the 5-kilometer postal and 3-6 mile swim.

Frances S. Chandler

   Chandler
For 2005, Chandler was the No. 1-ranked women’s tennis player in the 40-44 age group and No. 4 in doubles, according to the U.S. Tennis Association. She played tennis in college at the University of Mississippi. In April 2006, she helped the United States win the International Tennis Federation’s Senior World Team Championships in Durbin, South Africa, for the 45-and-over bracket by winning all of her doubles matches.
