Recently introduced products for Masters athletes

A healthier ride

VeloPress recently introduced a new cycling book, Andy Pruitt’s Complete Medical Guide for Cyclists. Pruitt, who is the director of the Boulder (Colo.) Center for Sports Medicine, wrote the book with Fred Matheny, who has written several previous books on cycling. The book is designed to help cyclists of all ability levels prevent, diagnose and treat injuries. For more information, visit www.velopress.com.

Row like a machine

Concept2’s newest rowing machine is the Model D, an institutional grade product. The unit weighs 61 pounds and easily separates for storage. It includes a PM3 monitor and LCD display, which allows users to gauge time and distance rowed and calories burned. The monitor includes preset workouts and an optional heart rate monitor interface. Visit www.concept2.com. It retails for $850.

Tasty muscle recovery

Amino Vital recently introduced Fit Bars, an energy bar for athletes. The bars contain amino acids for muscle recovery. Containing iron, folic acid and vitamins, the bars have just two to four grams of sugar. They are available in three flavors: apple pie, chocolate peanut and toasted nut cranberry. For more information, visit www.amino-vital.com.
