On March 15, Jeff King became the oldest winner of the Iditarod dog sled race, which covers 1,150 miles of extreme terrain from Anchorage, Alaska, to Nome. King is 50. In winning the race, he joined Martin Buser, Susan Butcher and Doug Swingley as four-time winners of the legendary event. He now trails only Rich Swenson’s five wins.
For the victory, King won $69,000 and a Dodge Quad Cab pickup truck. King lives in Denali Park, Alaska, where he breeds, raises and trains 60 to 70 huskies a year.
